James W. Egleston papers, 1832-1891.

Correspondence, primarily written by James W. Egleston throughout the course of his life to family members in Connecticut. Egleston describes his various adventures as crew member on the ships WASHINGTON and THULE, as captain of the schooner AMANDA, as owner of a Peruvian sugar plantation, and as an engineer for the Peruvian government. Egleston's also uses the names Flores, and James Watson.
